This prestigious project presented complex needs. Having previously worked with various companies Gosling Ltd felt that the upholstery was an area for improvement.
We met initially at our studio, Tim’s lead designers came armed with visionary drawings and some of the actual pieces that had been worked on previously. It was clear from the start that this would be a very special project requiring precise interpretation and leather work to the highest standard.
The brief
Our remit was to collaborate with Gosling’s designers in producing the furniture for the deck area on a new 93m yacht. The items included tub chairs, director’s chairs, dining chairs and sun loungers in a pure white leather decorated with distinctive turquoise piping detail.
It was critical that the leather would give us the elasticity we needed to achieve the complex shapes required whilst maintaining its beautiful appearance. The leather was going to be exposed to sun and sea and would therefore need to comply with International Maritime Organization (IMO) standards.
